South Access Road Household Waste and Recycling Centre

42a S Access Rd, Walthamstow, London E17 8AX, UK – 020 8509 3664

A high class of waste, tempered by friendly assistant personnel. This one time I was there dropping off some hardcore and paving slabs when a guy pulled up in a car that was jam packed with DVDs, there were tears in all our eyes as we watched him unload them into the general waste skip.

This recycling centre is usually very clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Metal & Waste Recycling

Albert Works, Kenninghall Rd, London N18 2PD, UK – 020 8807 4268

V helpful. Does not collect under 2tonne.

Gateway Road Recycling Centre

Gateway Rd, London E10 5BY, UK

Friendly staff. Unfortunately no vans what so ever because the commercial company that runs the establishment has a commercial waste disposal site nearby. And they enforce this rule so that you have to go and spend money to dispose there. So when your girlfriend volunteers you to clear her mates two wardrobes that they dismantled but just left in the garden, and you take a trip down the local tip site to get rid of the waste, and despite the fact that you aren't breaking any rules or laws, and you pay your taxes, and that I'm not getting rid of waste resulting from a commercial enterprise, if you pull up in a van, it's a no from these guys, namely bywaters, the company that runs it. As an alternative I'd suggest the following; - get a girlfriend that has no friends - go in a car - move to the country. Things are different outside the city. Everything is less swallowed up by bureaucracy and greed.

Friendly staff, never had a problem. I understand their opening hours are limited but still lucky to have them there.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.
